With this latest order, IndiGo will have placed a total of 1,330 aircraft orders with Airbus since its founding in 2006.
On the first day of the Paris Airshow, IndiGo announced that it had ordered 500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
Between 2030 and 2035, this will give IndiGo access to an additional constant stream of deliveries. This 500-plane order represents not only IndiGo’s largest purchase to date with Airbus, but also the largest single aircraft order ever made by any airline. The exact mix of A320 and A321 aircraft for this order, as well as the engine choice, will be made in due time, the firm stated in a statement.
“Today IndiGo operates over 300 aircraft and has previous orders totaling 480 aircraft which are yet to be delivered between today and the end of this decade. With this additional firm order of 500 aircraft for 2030-2035, IndiGo’s order-book has almost 1,000 aircraft yet to be delivered well into the next decade. This IndiGo order-book comprises a mix of A320NEO, A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft,” the company said.
Currently, IndiGo runs over 300 aircraft, and between now and the end of this decade, it still has 480 aircraft on order that will need to be delivered. With this further definite order for 500 aircraft for the years 2030–2035, IndiGo will have nearly 1,000 aircraft in its order book by the end of the next decade. According to the company, this IndiGo order-book includes a combination of A320NEO, A321NEO, and A321XLR aircraft.
The business added that IndiGo’s Board was informed of the offers’ appraisal, considered it, and ultimately approved it. With this latest order, IndiGo will have placed a staggering total of 1,330 aircraft orders with Airbus since its founding in 2006.
