Amazon India is strategically scaling up its operations to accommodate what surely will be an upsurge in demand during the festive season. The company said that it added three new fulfillment centers to its large pan-India network boasting of over 43 million cubic feet of storage space, 19 states with sorting centers, and approximately 2,000 delivery stations.

Part of the preparation by Amazon India ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF), starting on September 27, which will have a 24-hour early access period for Prime members is to advance its serviceability to reach 100% of pin codes. The seller base has doubled to 1.6 million from 1.4 million, and the company is working towards increasing over 25,000 fresh products under every category. With this growth, the platform has created over 110,000 regular jobs.

‘If that is what Saurabh Srivastava, vice president of categories at Amazon India, feels, it is no wonder that the third edition of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2024 is creating a storm across the online shopping platforms.”. “I am far more enthusiastic now than ever before for the third edition of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2024,” he further added that he “is very sure this is going to be the biggest one yet”. “Customer visits at the platform exceeded 1.1 billion last year when nearly 4 million were fresh to the ecosystem and, according to Srivastava, much more than that this time.”

Amazon is innovating within its offerings, mainly when it faces more competition from the likes of Flipkart, which saw 1.4 billion visits during its ‘Big Billion Days’ sale. Its new features include AI-Generated Review Highlights that provide concise summaries of customer feedback and Rufus as a generative AI shopping assistant to have more interactive conversations through the application.

E-commerce platforms are expected to ship goods worth $12 billion over the festive season, 23 percent more than $9.7 billion over the same period last year, according to Datum Intelligence. To attract seller partnerships, Amazon cut selling fees in various categories to as much as 12 percent, which will make way for the company to have a more varied product range on its platform.

Huge discounts with leading brands, besides additional savings with SBI debit and credit cards for all customers. The company is also emphasizing consumer demand in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. “We are pretty confident about making it large in the next two decades. We expect to increase our market share in the coming years,” the Vice-Chairman said.

Compensating for the competition in the form of quick delivery services, Amazon has a strong logistic system: the firm provides over 1 million same-day deliveries and over 4 million next-day deliveries. As Srivastava pointed out, Amazon is dedicated to speed, selection, and value, but returns will continue to be accepted as always to balance the customer and seller.
