Flender India, the arm of Germany’s Flender Group, is planning to enhance its investments in the Indian market as a future growth measure, said an official. This deal further underlines the rising importance that the Indian market is gaining in the global business of the company.

Flender’s statement also discloses how the Indian investments by the firm have increased fourfold over four years, pointing to the country’s strategic importance to the company as a whole. Today, Flender India works from three manufacturing plants in India, namely Kharagpur near Kolkata, Chennai, and Walajabad in Tamil Nadu. The plant specializes in manufacturing wind turbine drive gearboxes both for the domestic and international market.

To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Flender Group, its CEO Andreas Evertz visited the Tamil Nadu plants of Flender India – accompanied by CEO Vinod Shetty and other senior executives from Flender headquarters who spent time speaking to employees. The visit marked the group’s commitment to India, where approximately 10 percent of its global staff are located.

Founded in the year 1899 by Bocholt, Germany, Flender started its journey by manufacturing wooden pulleys and now it has gradually shifted to mechanical drive technology. Since the company established its first manufacturing unit in the year 1961, it has experienced exponential growth. In the last three years alone, Flender India has experienced more than a growth of 50 percent and more than half of its products were shipped to every nook and corner of the world.

With this growth momentum in India, Flender India has promised further investments and expansion to its growth trajectory. For one, it is keen on being part of the global energy transition primarily by furthering technologies such as wind energy and other such sustainable solutions.

Reflecting on the milestone, CEO Andreas Evertz emphasized the sense of unity within the Flender community. “We have always been and will always be a large Flender family, encompassing employees, customers, suppliers, and partners,” he said. “I am incredibly proud to be part of this team and to drive the energy transition forward with you.”

Vinod Shetty, CEO of Flender India, also celebrated the 125th anniversary, noting that the company’s employees remain at the heart of its continued success and growth in the region.
