The Adani Group has been awarded the contract to transform Dharavi, one of the biggest slums in Asia, into a contemporary city center.

The Dharavi reconstruction project has awarded the contract to Genesys International, a digital mapping firm based in Mumbai, to use its digital twin mapping technology.

According to a statement from the company, the order is expected to be completed in nine months and is valued at ₹22 crore, excluding GST. Earlier this year, the Adani Group was awarded the contract to transform one of Asia’s biggest slums into a cutting-edge urban center.

“This project is a perfect example of Genesys’ steadfast dedication to expanding the mapping industry. According to PTI, Sajid Malik, chairman and managing director of Genesys International, “Our committed team has been instrumental in this historic mapping project, capturing the attention of the entire geospatial community for its unparalleled complexity.”

Opposition parties claim that Adani received privileges from the Eknath Shinde government, which has caused problems for the business conglomerate’s Dharavi redevelopment project.

The Adani Group asserted last week in a statement that the Dharavi project’s bidding criteria were settled during the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government, which was made up of the Congress, NCP, and now-split Shiv Sena.

“The Dharavi project was awarded to the Adani Group through a fair, open, internationally competitive bidding process,” the statement continued.
It is significant to remember that the terms of the tender were decided upon during the administration of the MVA, which left office at the end of June 2022. All bidders were aware of the finalized conditions, which included incentives and obligations, and they remained unchanged for the awardee after the tendering process. Therefore, it is false to assert that the recipient has received any particular benefits.”

The Adani Group, which was selected through a tender to handle the enormous project, is allegedly receiving preferential treatment from the Maharashtra government, according to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and other opposition parties including the Congress and the NCP.
