Cognizant announced that Ravi Kumar S has been named CEO and a member of the Board of Directors (the “Board“), effective immediately. Kumar takes over both duties from Brian Humphries. Humphries will remain with the Company as a special advisor until March 15, 2023, to ensure a smooth transition.

Kumar joins Cognizant following a 20-year career at Infosys, where he most recently served as President from January 2016 to October 2022. In this role, he was responsible for leading the Infosys Global Services Organization across all global industry segments, including digital transformation services, consulting services, technology services, engineering services, data & analytics, cloud and infrastructure, and enterprise package applications service lines.

Stephen J. Rohleder, a member of Cognizant’s Board of Directors since March 2022, was also named Chair of the Board. Former Chair Michael Patsalos-Fox will remain an independent director on the Board. Rohleder joined the Board in March 2022 as part of the Board’s continuous Board refreshment exercise; the Board has appointed three new independent directors in the last three years.

Rohleder brings decades of experience in technology operations, strategy development, client counselling, and team growth from his 35-year tenure as Group Chief Executive, in North America, Group Chief Executive, Health and Public Service, and Chief Operating Officer at Accenture, as well as his roles as Chairman and CEO of GTY Technology Holdings.

Cognizant had earlier announced Kumar’s appointment as President of Cognizant Americas. In conjunction with the CEO transfer, Cognizant announced the appointment of Surya Gummadi as President of Cognizant Americas. Gummadi, a Cognizant veteran of 24 years, had been serving as interim SVP of Cognizant’s Health Sciences business sector since July 2022.
