Please brief us about your journey in the industry and how you have made Sparc Design excel in its niche.

I am an alumnus of Sir J.J College of Architecture, Mumbai with over 16 years of experience in architecture and interior design of large-scale residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. I head the business operations as the principal architect at “Sparc Design.”

I have worked in various parts of the country and have traveled widely in India and abroad to explore the world of architecture and design. My academic work has been nominated for the Charles Correa and the V.S Gore gold medals.

I worked at well-known design firms on cutting-edge projects for several years before starting my own practice. I am glad to have been recognized for the personally tailored client-specific designs that use a burst of colors and textures and use new materials, techniques, and engineering details. I am an active member of various design portals and organizations like IIA, IIID, AESA, and many more.

Being an experienced leader, share your opinion on how the adoption of modern technologies like AI and ML is impacting the Architectural Designing Solution space and how is Sparc Design adapting to the change?

AI is making the Architectural Designing process significantly easier, giving us access to countless amounts of data, creating models, interpreting the building environment, and creating cost estimates. All this helps shorten the design and building time substantially.

Our firm is slowly adapting to the change, however, I feel there is a lot more scope for us to benefit from the technology. In the context of architecture and design, ML has great potential to analyze our designs more quickly and at less cost. We have been exploring ways in which it can be incorporated into the design process, as well as some potentially more revolutionary applications.

Considering the current pandemic, what initial challenges did you face and how did you drive Sparc Design to sustain operations while ensuring the safety of your employees at the same time?

With the initial striking of the pandemic, like everyone else we were confined to work from home – however, this changed and helped create digital and video conferencing avenues along with complete digital tracking systems for our business – something less explored in the design fraternity.

Once the physical model was partially restarted, besides using masks and complete sanitization – we were fortunate enough to have substantial space to ensure safe seating distance and alternate days of work from home for employees. Our is a profession where human interactions become imperative – so while the work-from-home model worked for a while the demand of our industry does not really allow for this system to be followed in the long run. Ensuring the highest standards of safety and the lessons learned post-pandemic, we continue our operations with all necessary safety precautions.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the Architectural designing solution space?

How do you envision scaling Sparc Design’s operations and offerings in the future?

We are working consistently and constantly towards improving our systems and scaling our projects. From taking up projects of every size and scale, Sparc Design now takes up niche and boutique high-end design projects. In the future, we envision scaling projects and adding resorts, schools, and hotels to our portfolio. We are also looking at creating and adding additional Turnkey and project management portfolios to our profile. Our goal is to provide the highest standards in the industry in terms of design and quality.
