In digital news media outlets, the changes in rules of limiting the foreign funding of more than 26% has made Verizon Media to take a decision to shut down Yahoo India’s operations.

On Thursday, 26 August 2021, Yahoo has shut down its operations in the country. From this day, it has ceased the publication of content operations across India. But, Verizon Media, the owner of web portal has assured its users that their email, Yahoo accounts and search experience will not be affected due to this shut down of news operations.

On the Yahoo India homepage, a statement read, “As of August 26th, 2021, Yahoo India will no longer be publishing content.”

The statement further read, “Your Yahoo Account, Mail, and Search experiences will not be affected in any way and will operate as usual. We thank you for your support and readership.”
