In the month of December 2021, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) confirmed that India will have the 5G network in the year 2022. Only 13 cities will have it in the beginning: – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.
The DoT has given the approval to Reliance JIO, Bharati Airtel, Vodafone, and MTNL for 5G trials. Bharati Airtel had conducted India’s first 5G trial in the outskirts of Kolkata in a partnership with Nokia. Reliance Jio has successfully conducted the trials of connected drones on there 5G network. Even the smartphone companies started 5G testing in India and globally.
“India must complete the migration of the network from 2G to 4G to 5G as soon as possible and rollout the 5G should be countries first priority.” According to Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited.
