Apple’s Wonderlust event is set to unveil the iPhone 15 lineup along with other product updates. Here’s what to expect:
USB Type-C Support:
Apple is shifting to USB Type-C for the iPhone 15 series, reportedly due to EU regulations. While standard iPhone 15 models may have limited charging speeds with Apple-certified cables required, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to offer faster data transfer speeds. This move aligns with industry-standard USB-C and regulatory pressures for standardization.
iPhone 15 Series:
Apple is set to introduce four new iPhones: iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The base models (iPhone 15 and 15 Plus) may feature a glass back and aluminum sides. In contrast, the Pro versions are rumored to adopt a titanium design, offering increased durability and reduced weight. The Pro models will be powered by the new A17 chipset built on a 3-nanometer process, promising performance and battery life improvements. The base models might retain the A16 chipset from the previous year.
Apple is also employing LIPO (Low Injection Pressure Overmolding) to make the bezels around the screen thinner and enhance screen size in the Pro models.
Apple is expected to release updates to two watch lines: the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra. The Series 9 will come in 41-millimeter and 45-millimeter sizes, while the Watch Ultra 2 will be available in a 49-millimeter size. These watches are anticipated to retain a similar look to their predecessors with some design tweaks.
Apple plans to transition its Lightning-based accessories to USB-C, starting with the AirPods Pro. Additionally, the regular AirPods and AirPods Max will likely adopt USB-C charging in the coming year. While significant hardware upgrades are not expected, software updates may introduce new features, such as muting and unmuting AirPods, conversational awareness, and more.
iOS 17 Release Schedule:
Apple is likely to announce the release schedule for iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17, which were unveiled at WWDC 23 in June.
Overall, Apple’s Wonderlust event promises exciting updates across its product lines, from iPhones to Apple Watches and AirPods, as well as software releases. Apple enthusiasts can anticipate a range of enhancements and innovations.
