Meta’s Threads Spread Fastest Reaching 100 Million Users in Just Five Days

Threads

Since its Wednesday launch, Threads has had record-breaking user growth as celebrities, politicians, and other newsmakers have joined the network, which analysts believe poses the first real challenge to Elon Musk-owned Twitter.

According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the recently established Twitter-like Meta Platforms platform Threads has reached the crucial milestone of 100 million sign-ups in a record-breaking five days.

Notably, it took ChatGPT two months to reach 100 million subscribers whereas TikTok, a well-known video-sharing app, took nine months to reach the same milestone. After its 2010 launch, Instagram itself took 30 months to reach 100 million users. Uber, a ride-hailing service, needed 70 months to attain the desired benchmark.

Since its Wednesday launch, Threads has had record-breaking user growth as celebrities, politicians, and other newsmakers have joined the network, which analysts believe poses the first real challenge to Elon Musk-owned Twitter.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (Instagram’s parent company), reported 2 million sign-ups in two hours, 5 million sign-ups in four hours, and 10 million registered users in seven hours on the first day of Threads’ introduction, which attracted a lot of attention.

Over 30 million individuals had registered to test out the new program, according to Zuckerberg’s announcement the next day. Notably, Threads’ quick expansion is impressive given that, due to privacy concerns, it has not yet been introduced in the European Union.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT previously held the title of one of the consumer products with the quickest rate of growth, attaining 10 million daily users in 40 days and 100 million monthly users in over two months. Its next major difficulty will be keeping people on Threads.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Threads was made accessible in 100 countries (aside from Europe) via the Apple and Android app stores.
