Samsung has introduced a new platform dubbed One Watch UI, which combines Samsung’s Tizen OS with Google’s WearOS for the first time. The Galaxy Watch 4 series is the first to run on this new platform. According to ArsTechnica, Samsung has discontinued support for iOS devices altogether with this new platform.

Previous Galaxy smartwatches will continue to operate as before since Tizen OS will not remove support for iOS.

Furthermore, One Watch UI will not work with Android devices running Android 5.0 or earlier versions of the operating system. Because of the WearOS core, the report claims that Google Mobile Services, including Play Services and the Play Store, must be installed on the device for it to operate.
