Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based firm, has raised $11 million in Series A funding.

According to a news release from the city-based firm, the fundraising included participation from Solar Group, a major Space and Defense supplier, former-Whatsapp CBO Neeraj Arora, current investor Mukesh Bansal (creator of Myntra and CureFit), Worldquant Ventures, Graph Ventures, Sutton Capital, Vedanshu Investments, and a few angels.

Skyroot’s Co-Founder and COO, Naga Bharath Daka, said the company has begun taking reservations for launches beginning in the middle of next year and is actively engaging global customers.

“Over the next five years, we plan to raise another USD 40 million to fund our aggressive expansion ambitions,” Daka stated.

According to the statement, this is the largest investment in the Indian Space Startup Scene to date, after the Indian cabinet’s approval of private sector participation in space activities.

It was announced that Anil, Mahesh, and Solar Group would be joining Skyroot’s Board of Directors.
