Attrition and a shortage of delivery executives have been a concern for food tech and rapid commerce companies, which has grown into a major issue for these companies.
After a week of suspending Genie’s operations in cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, food tech giant Swiggy has resumed operations this week, but only from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
‘Long-distance delivery may not be available owing to current demand,’ according to the app. This comes at a time when food tech and rapid commerce companies are suffering from attrition and a shortage of delivery executives, which has become a major issue for them.
Furthermore, demand for these players increases during IPL matches and during the holiday season, resulting in more supply-demand difficulties.
Swiggy’s Genie pick-and-drop service was shut off last week, according to Moneycontrol. In a statement, the firm said, “Swiggy Genie is currently unavailable in three of the 68 cities it serves. The cricket and festive seasons have resulted in an increase in demand for serving the needs of both the food marketplace and Instamart, necessitating us to prioritize these deliveries. Swiggy Genie should be back up and running in the affected cities soon.”
