With nearly four decades of experience in the electrical field, I worked as a senior engineer in the operation and maintenance department of the State Electricity Board. After retirement, I entered the new and challenging electric vehicles and charging infrastructure field. I’m also a registered Electrical Contractor.
Amar Chakradev, my friend, is also from the Electrical Field and has been a consultant, installer and registered Electrical contractor for the last 25 years. And I have completed various projects.
We both have an interest in the new emerging fields, and this interest brought us together.
We have been Delta Electronics, India’s channel partner for the last four years. We have installed more than 500 EV chargers of various capacities and locations in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa. We installed EV chargers for TATA Power, MG Electric, TVS and OLA. With our experienced partners and staff maintaining the EV chargers, we are the key players in this niche. We also provide software services to our customers, charge point operators, EV charging network companies, groups of consumers, and private companies.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will play a major role in developing the EV sector in the future. Day-by-day developments are happening in EVs, battery technology, and charging instruments. The world is trying to ease the business and cost-effectiveness, that is the availability of all equipment at reasonable costs. The Central and State Governments are making new EV policies to increase the population of EVs.
Indian Government is encouraging the use of electric vehicles and hopes 70% of vehicles will be Electric vehicles on the road by 2030. More Indian auto manufacturers and foreign companies are launching EVs in the Indian market. Naturally, the requirement for charging infrastructure will increase.
Considering the current industry scenario, what challenges do you face, and how do you drive your company to overcome them?
Lack of Knowledge. As this field is new, various ideas are based on incomplete knowledge. One or two unavoidable or manufactured incidents create rumours that pull back the entire industry.
Lack of standards in the equipment. Government authorities should implement rules regarding charger connectors, battery specifications, and Battery management systems.
Lack of trained, skilled, and technically sound workforce. In India, even all over the world, a skilled, experienced workforce is required in the EV industry. There are no official courses available to train the employees.
We all face these main problems. We train our staff regularly through company training programs and hands-on experience.
To overcome these challenges, we at Synergy E Mobility Solutions have started skill development courses in the EV industry field with the help of Skill Sonic India and JSPMS, a leading Engineering College in Pune, Maharashtra, this year only. It is the only officially available course and will be started in other colleges in the future.
What would you advise budding entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the EV industry?
As we all can see, the EV industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in India and globally. It’s a collaborative sector in which all other industries are directly and indirectly associated. EV Charging Industry, last-mile delivery, battery swapping, servicing and maintenance, rent and leasing, and battery recycling are a few of those.
