Instagram, a Meta-owned social media platform, was down for tens of thousands of users around the world, including in India. Thousands of users experienced an outage with Instagram at 11 p.m. on May 26, according to outage tracker Downdetector. Instagram has acknowledged the problem and stated that it has been resolved as of late last night.
Over 5,000 users reported an outage with the photo-sharing network at roughly 11 p.m. on May 26th, according to Downdetector. Meta’s app has been causing problems for users all over the world, including the inability to log in, make posts, or see other people’s posts. Instagram apologised for the inconvenience to users in a statement. The services appear to be back online now, and we at News18 had no problems using and publishing from Instagram this morning.
There was no specific location or country affected by the outage. The app does not provide in-app outage notifications, something Meta has been trying since Facebook’s big outage last year. Downdetector reported around 600 outages in India, although the platform appears to be operational at present time.
